MANDATORY EDUCATION
MANDATORY RESEARCH MISCONDUCT PREVENTION EDUCATION FOR PIs

Mass General Brigham has developed mandatory online training for PIs. PIs have 60 days to complete the training after receiving notification from the Mass General Brigham Research Compliance Office. All members of the research community – Co-investigators, Research Associates, Postdoctoral Fellows, Graduate students and Research Administrators – are encouraged to complete the program. Don’t wait until you become a PI!

MANDATORY RESEARCH MISCONDUCT PREVENTION EDUCATION FOR POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWS

As part of their new hire orientation and training, BWH, MGH, MEE, McLean, and Spaulding Postdoctoral Fellows are required to complete Education in Research Misconduct Prevention. The course introduces fellows to the basics of research misconduct prevention. It outlines federal and Mass General Brigham requirements, the research misconduct review process, and identifies best practices for data management.

COMPACT BETWEEN POSTDOCTORAL APPOINTEES & THEIR MENTORS

The AAMC has published the Compact which encapsulates “guiding principles intended to support the development of positive mentoring relationships between postdoctoral appointees and their mentors.” The AAMC suggests that the Compact be used to start discussions among research leadership about issues it raises; as a recruitment tool; as part of a contract signed by fellows and their mentors; or as part of the trainee-mentor annual evaluation process. Originally published in 2006, the current version was revised and published in January 2017 with input from the AAMC and national postdoctoral fellow communities/organizations. We encourage Mass General Brigham mentors to review and use this tool with their fellows.
