EXCLUSION SCREENINGS

Research Compliance uses the Visual Compliance software tool to conduct exclusion screenings and determine whether a person or organization is a US Government restricted party. Exclusion screening is the process by which a non-U.S. individual or entity is reviewed against government-issued restricted party lists to ensure they have not been sanctioned, barred, or excluded from participation and collaboration with US organizations. Exclusion screening is typically required when an individual or entity is from or headquartered in one of the Countries deemed as high-risk.

Research Compliance receives exclusion screening requests from Mass General Brigham central offices including Global Professional Services (GPS) as part of the J-1 visa process, Transactional Affairs Group (TAG) and Research Management (RM) as part of new agreement reviews, and Supply Chain as part of new vendor requests. Departments can also reach out directly to their hospital’s research compliance contact for an exclusion screening and/or for questions regarding the process
