COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is designed for Investigators and their research staff who are working on or will be working on a human research protocol and collaborating with the Mass General Brigham Institutional Review Board (IRB).  The IRB 101 course covers the basics of human subjects research and provides important practical information about navigating the IRB process at Mass General Brigham. This includes but is not limited to:

  • An overview of IRBs
  • A brief explanation of the historical context of research ethics and regulations
  • An overview of regulations
  • An explanation of the regulatory criterial for approval
  • Informed consent
  • And explanation of comment clinical research challenges
